The programme has been designed to support and guide students on their journey to become effective and influential zoonotic disease scientists, who have the skills and expertise required to undertake high quality transdisciplinary research necessary to solve real world challenges associated with disease risks in the environment.
The OneZoo CDT offers fully funded studentships, which include fees, stipends and a Research Training Support Grant (RTSG) of £8,250 to support their project and individual training needs. Each studentship will span a 3.5-year (full time) or 7-year (part time) period.
During their PhD, OneZoo students will work on a challenging research project and receive high quality training in disease management, transferable and specialist skills. Through the close involvement of our associated partners in the co-creation and delivery of the training programme and their hosting of work placements, all students will have the opportunity to work in a real–world environment. They will also have the opportunity to attend careers-based activities in order to gain further insight.
Specific training activities will be tailored to individual student needs using a regularly updated Personal Development Plan (PDP). Through the delivery of a residential induction week, year group exemplar events, OneZoo annual meetings, and online resources, we will maximise cohesion within and across the different OneZoo year groups.
